Four decades ago, Smriti left her Hindu background and gave her life to Christ. God called her to be a missionary, with another organization, then with CRI in 2007. Smriti shares Christ with children, young girls, abused women, and widows—those desperately in need of His care. We call her “Mighty Mouse” because, though small in stature, she defends the Gospel without fear.
Smriti’s Mudpaths Preschool program takes its name from the damp alleyways of Smriti’s city. Here, Smriti offers a one-year preschool program, tutoring for elementary aged children, and Sunday school in four different slums. She forms relationships by taking prayer walks. When allowed inside families’ homes, she prays for the sick and invites the children to her club. Her staff teaches English, sings songs, and shares Bible stories. She has started a Bible club for children whose mothers work in the city’s red-light district. Smriti ministers to over 300 children a week.
