A Shalem Christian Academy Advocate Story

Every CRI relationship starts somewhere. For Pete, it started with a trip.

“Shalem Christian Academy (SCA) came into my life through a men’s Bible study I am involved with: The Bronze Bow. What started as a Bible study became a prayer group for Lian. We meet to pray for him, and when internet access allows, he joins us and shares updates about his family and the ministry.

I went on several trips to visit Lian, including one to India after he fled Myanmar during the military coup. Even as a refugee, he continued what God had called him to do.

Going to visit SCA gives context, but more importantly, it builds relationships. Our Bronze Bow group is tied together by a shared love for this friend we care for and support. Once you know someone personally, giving no longer feels like an obligation. You become invested in their life and calling.

Over the years, I’ve watched the Lord help SCA prosper and meet real needs in the community. God is using the school to shine His light to refugees and families displaced by war. Their villages are being destroyed, but there is safety and hope in Kalaymyo. People are coming to SCA for opportunities and education when they’ve lost everything.

If you're a mission-minded person who’s interested in helping build the kingdom of God around the world, SCA is a wonderful opportunity to invest. I can tell you firsthand, after 15 years, that it has prospered.

Lian leads with integrity, vision, and perseverance, unlike anyone I’ve ever met. He is good at placing a premium on relationships, and his ministries place the same emphasis on connection and community. I would vouch for him with my last breath.”
