Miracle Milk

Read a story from the life of Ajay, a boy who loves theatre and the assurance he’s found through our Miracle Milk program.

Ajay conceals a smile as he gathers sticks from the floor. His friends sit and watch him with wide eyes. Ajay loves to put on shows for the orphanage.

He knows today’s skit will be a hit. He bundles the sticks under his arms and lifts his knees one at a time. His eyes peer in the distance. With huffs and puffs, he pretends to trek through rough terrain.

His movements cease. Then, he arranges the sticks into a structure. He turns to the side, wraps his arms around an imaginary figure, and lays it across the structure. His face grows somber. Again, Ajay takes a deep breath. He clasps his hands together but leaves a space between his palms to hold an invisible object. Ajay lifts the object above his head, but, as he lowers it, his hands come undone. He looks around; he has heard a sound.

“Here I am, Lord!” he yells. The room erupts in applause. Ajay has performed a Bible story—Abraham’s journey up Mount Sinai to sacrifice Isaac—highlighting how God spoke and spared Isaac.

Ajay lives in South Asia. He comes from a home of believers, but his Christian foundation ended prematurely. His parents died of AIDS. So Ajay was left to fight the disease alone. His grandmother brought him to the government-run orphanage.

Before Miracle Milk, Ajay complained of hunger, weakness, and sleepiness. He took his medication with a cup of tea, nothing more. He struggled to focus at school.

Because of our Miracle Milk sponsors, Ajay eats breakfast and receives the nutrition he needs. With energy for the day, he scores high in Hindi (his favorite class) and is eager to make every room his acting stage. Ajay is thankful for Miracle Milk and God because, as he puts it, “the God of Abraham is faithful to provide.”
