A Clean Water Advocate Story
Every CRI relationship starts somewhere. For Jessica, it started with a trip.
“I went on a trip to Mozambique because I felt God telling me there was something I was supposed to go and see. While there, we drove past two side-by-side holes in the sand. In one, a little girl dug for water, and in the other, a little boy relieved himself. The water she dug for would now be contaminated. In that moment, I felt a tap on my shoulder and heard someone say, See what I see. I knew the Lord was calling me to do something about the water crisis.
During that trip, I also saw the community of compassion and care that CRI had built. It felt like a merging of Heaven and earth, and I knew this was a mission I could stand behind. When I returned home, I began sharing about what I had seen and the deep need for clean water. Others came alongside us to help build wells, and then we began donating wells through the proceeds from our business.
Over time, I continued taking trips to different CRI locations and began seeing the water wells we helped build. I visited often enough that people started calling me “the water girl,” which felt like a wink from God that I was where He wanted me to be.
And the change I saw was tangible. Women gathered around wells while their children played. They no longer had to haul water from distant, dirty ponds, and they learned, for the first time, that water could be sweet.
Water, to me, is the embodiment of God’s love–we cannot live without it.”
