Agostinho & Celina Augusto
Agostinho came to know Christ as a young boy growing up in Dondo, Mozambique. His faith grew through the influence of his family and his early connection with Children’s Relief International. Over time, he served in various roles with CRI—including translator, field coordinator for Project Life, and leader of water well efforts in rural communities. Though he earned a degree in civil engineering, Agostinho felt called to full-time ministry. He and Celina married in their mid-twenties and began serving together soon after.
In 2018, they launched Light for the Hungry in the village of Jone Segredo. Their ministry shares the light of Christ in Word and deed by discipling youth, supporting local churches, and meeting urgent community needs. LFTH provides education for more than 100 preschoolers, tutoring for teens, and adult classes in literacy, hygiene, and vocational skills. They train leaders from 60 rural churches and disciple more than 80 youth each week. The ministry also responds to medical and emergency needs and runs a farm that produces nearly 20% of LFTH’s food while training community members in sustainable agriculture.
In recent years, Agostinho has planted three churches, and he hopes to plant more in the future. He and Celina live in Dondo with their three children.
Agostinho became an International Missionary Partner at CRI in the winter of 2025.
