Everything you need to know to Host the Hippo:
Between now and October 1st, two inflatable hippos are going on tour — and we're looking for people willing to put one in front of their home or business!
Why a hippo?
That's the part we're not telling anyone. The whole story gets told on one night only: Night of Light, October 1st.
Until then, he's just a very large question mark showing up in yards and storefronts around town, and everyone who walks past is going to ask you what he's doing there.
They are invited to scan a QR code where they will be invited to help in four ways:
Be there for the reveal. Buy a ticket or sponsor a table for Night of Light on October 1: one dinner, one room, one shared goal of $200,000. Can't get to Rockwall? Watch the livestream. Either way, you'll finally be in on it.
Feed the Hippo. Give a gift by September 29th and your gift is matched up to $10,000, plus you're entered in the giveaway.
Host the Hippo. Have a storefront or a yard on a busy corner? Take him for an hour, a day, or a whole weekend. You draw the crowd; we bring the hippo and everything he needs.
Spread the word. Snap a selfie with him, tag @childrensrelief, and post with #FeedTheHippo. Every post is a free entry in the Hippo Giveaway, no donation necessary, and every share pushes the mystery a little further.
Why it matters:
Every dollar raised goes straight to the work: nutrition for at-risk babies, child education, and support for women, widows, and the elderly.

Fill out the form at childrensrelief.org/hippo and we will provide everything you need! Our Hippo Hosting Kit comes with the inflatable hippo, extension cord, and QR code signs. A CRI staff member will deliver your kit to the address you provide at an agreed upon time and help with setup!
