Ray of Light Project

Dondo, Mozambique

rol

Our project is located 20 miles inland from the port city of Beira in the twin villages of Dondo and Mafarinha with combined populations of about 100,000 people.

Both communities suffer from high rates of malaria and AIDS and ancient rites of witchcraft are still practiced. In the last 9 years the project has grown from 60 to almost 600 children spread over three campuses, the largest being the El Shaddai Christian School. Its ministries also include a medical clinic, a bakery, a teaching farm, a microloan program, Project Life direct aid to widows, a food pantry, a nutrition outreach, and eight church plants. Our partners at the Project are Jeronimo and Noemia Cessito. He is from the Senna tribe and she is a former missionary from Brazil. Jeronimo is pastor of the Dondo Baptist church. He writes about his country, his people:

“In our country, millions of people still live their lives under the direction of spirits and witchdoctors. The Gospel is the only light that can free my people. As a pastor I believe in a holistic ministry. There is no area of humankind that can be separated from the others; there is no aspect of human life that can be isolated from the others. The sin that destroyed man destroyed the entire man. So the restoration of Christ restored the entire man. As Christians we should have the premier place in restoring man’s body, mind and soul.”
