My Story

Almost three years ago my husband went home to be with the Lord. That was a major life-changing event for me. Following Jim’s death I sought God’s direction like never before.

The first step towards my new life was a vision trip to Dondo, Mozambique in November of 2007. I have taken God at His word when He says to trust in Him with all your heart and He will direct your path. After that trip, His direction was clear. Now two years later, I have become a full-time missionary with Children’s Relief International to serve in Mozambique. He encouraged me to leave my nets behind and follow Him, and that is what I have done.

My life in Dondo is full and fulfilling. Most days are spent connecting with people; the vendors at the out-door market, the baker at the bread shop, the clerk at the local China Shop, the team members who share our home. God gives me daily opportunities to pray with and show God’s love to those who cross my path. When traveling to the church plants I have the ability to utilize my nursing skill – allowing me to minister to both their physical and spiritual needs.

Every day I have found that no matter where the Lord directs me, I am sure to find someone He intended for me to meet. I love that He is in charge of my daily itinerary. I have come to realize that the work he has called me to do is all that really matters.
