Our Story
It was love at first sight for me (Todd). Christa and I met in 2001, dated for 9 months, were engaged for 9 more and married in 2003. We struggled with infertility the first couple of years, and in June 2006 we were blessed with not one but two healthy babies…Aidan and Ava.
As the youth pastor at Second Baptist Church we began a partnership with CRI in 2003 to take a team of students to Dondo, Mozambique. In July of the next year we stepped onto the soil of one of the poorest countries in the world for the first time. My students’ lives changed forever. The impact was just what I wanted to see as their leader.
In 2007 we returned with another team. This time God called us to “leave our nets behind” (stable job, nice house, family) and follow Him to serve full time with CRI.
Serving the poorest of the poor by exposing college students to unimaginable poverty is our heartbeat. Our primary focus is recruiting, training, and developing interns. We guide them in using their talents to help alleviate poverty.
