Our Story
We are serving with the Ray of Light Project at the Baptist Church of Dondo in Mozambique, Africa. We are partnering with our national hosts, Pastor Jerónimo and Noemia Cessito. God called us to serve Him with the talents and skills he has blessed us with. After contacting CRI we were encouraged to make our first trip to Mozambique in July of 2003. After one or two short term trips each year we quit our jobs and began serving full-time in February 2006.
John’s primary area of service has been to oversee the construction of El Shaddai Christian School. He continues to put the finishing touches on the first permanent building which houses grades 1-4. John also oversees the maintenance of the other buildings in the Ray of Light project, transports construction materials for the Green Door houses and completes routine maintenance on our team vehicles.
Cindy serves the Ray of Light project as a nurse. She purchases the medicines and supplies for our community health post and teaches throughout the Dondo area about health, first aid, AIDS, abstinence and nutrition. Cindy transports people to the hospital and is the school nurse for our 600+ students. We are also called upon to help transport people for the funerals of church members and their families.
