Children’s Relief International

Strategies

We use four strategies to change the lives of the communities we serve. Although none is unique in itself, their combination produces an approach to international aid that is effective at transforming lives.

First, we help God's weakest children at our projects, the poorest of the poor. In John chapter 12, Jesus said to his disciples, "Where I am, my servant also will be (v. 26)." By both word and deed Jesus made it abundantly clear that he is among the poor. As servants who follow his calling, we too then find our work among them. As we serve them, we serve Him.

Secondly, we support the vision and direction of indigenous leaders. These are men and women who have an ambitious faith, can articulate a vision for helping their people, are trustworthy in all their dealings, and have the education or life experience to successfully lead.

Thirdly, we serve the church at home as well as the church overseas. We believe our responsibility is to build up both, even as we serve the poor among them.

Fourth, we mix compassion and sustainability. Compassion refers to ministries that are pure gifts such as direct aid to orphans and widows, feeding programs, and hospice care. But we also create programs that bring a return, such as a farm, microloans, and votech training. Each of our projects displays a mix, depending on our partner's vision.
