The boys and girls who live in the Rajah Children's Home come from the Deep Forest and Rock Quarry areas outside the city. These are children from the "Dalit" or untouchable caste.
Some are orphans, while others come from homes of extreme hardship. These children would be bound into a life of hard labor without education.
One of the boys is Pandu. He's 11 years old, bright eyed, curious, and energetic. The first years of his childhood were spent as a child laborer, working the fields a few kilometers from the one room hut he calls home. Inquisitive, sharp as a tack, and almost too energetic, he's one of those kids you just know will grow up to do great things, if given an education and an opportunity to succeed.
Pandu is one of several children who are getting that chance because of the Rajah Children's Home. The boys are being cared for by Pastor Isaiah and his brother, Ananth, because they have felt God's call to help the little ones in southern India. The brothers base their care on a family model, and care for the children as if they were their own. The children are enrolled in a Christian school and are given food, shelter, love and the opportunity to be fun-loving kids- not laborers! These kids will grow into healthy, educated, self-reliant adults with a knowledge of Jesus Christ and a commitment to the Christian faith.
